the elevation but contributes to part of the height increase. Styles with a
lower heel height will be more discrete. How is shaft measured?

the collar or highest point. So, a low top will have a lower shaft height.

Stylish, but not as comfortable as I hoped
These shoes look even better in person than they do in the photos. Unfortunately there were some shortcomings in the design. The metal clasps feel cheap and not easy to fasten or unfasten, and there's only one belt hole so no way to adjust the tightness of the shoe. There is some elastic material allowing the top to stretch but it isn't enough, the top of my foot felt squished. The biggest problem is the back of the shoe, it digs into my heel like a $20 dress shoe. Hopefully in adding some pads or by breaking them in I will get some relief, but as it stands I can't see myself wearing these for many hours at a time.
